The band...

Steve Thompson

Keyboard, Vocals

Steve began taking piano lessons at the tender age of 8 and has been playing the instrument ever since. He purchased his first synthesizer in 1987; a Roland D-50 that is still part of his current 5-synth arsenal with 6MDB. In addition to playing in 80s bands, Steve enjoys singing in men’s acappella barbershop and doo-wop groups as well as arranging music for various vocal ensembles. One of Steve’s favorite 80s bands is Depeche Mode -- killer synths and superb songwriting since the early 80s, and they’re still going strong today. When not involved with 6MDB, Steve can be found cycling, jogging, watching football, or just relaxing and geeking out with his extensive music library.

Lori Williams

Lori started singing at the age of 18, performing for the first time in her high school talent show. That experience left her wanting more and she was able to land a 3 year gig with The Tremors, a variety cover band out of Denver. She has enjoyed being able to sing for her church, weddings and funerals over the years as well. She still loves 80's new wave, Depeche Mode being her favorite! She is a mom to 4 great kids and credits her husband for the fun she's having, 8 years and counting, with 6MDB. Lori is a hairstylist by trade and in her spare time can be found scrapbooking, adventuring with her family or cheering on her kids in their various sports and activities.

Brandon Higgins

Guitar, Vocals

Multi-talented Brandon Higgins is the newest member of the band. A natural tenor, his distinctive vocal sound allows the band to perform some of the greatest songs of the 1980s. A graduate of the University of Colorado with a degree in Molecular, Cellular, and Developmental Biology, Brandon’s diverse talents include precise and energetic guitar skills and a proficiency in Muy Thai.

Ryan Day

Drums, Vocals

Drummer Ryan Day first picked up the sticks at age 13 and hasn't stopped playing since. His first public performance was inside a movie theater lobby, banging out classic covers from The Beatles, U2, and The Who. Over the years he has been a member in both original and cover bands. Prior to forming 6MDB, he was a competition snare drummer in Colorado Skye, a Colorado Springs based bagpipe band that traveled around North America to compete. Among the band's loyal fans, Ryan is known for his rock-steady sense of timing, speed, and precision around the drum kit. His favorite song from the 80s is "Subdivisions" by Rush due to Neil Peart’s intricate drum arrangement. In his free time, Ryan likes to travel, exercise, and watch NFL football with his family and friends.

Robin Ruscio

Bass Guitar, Vocals

Robin Ruscio is one of Colorado’s busiest electric and double bassists. He has performed with many notable Colorado jazz and pop artists, including Lannie Garrett, Ron Miles, Nelson Rangell, The U.S. Air Force Falconaires, Hazel Miller, and Cojunto De Colores. He has backed national tours of theatrical hits including “Wicked", “Spamalot", and "Billy Elliot” at the Denver Performing Arts Complex.  Robin is passionate about sharing his love for the bass and is a busy private instructor. He holds a bachelor’s degree in jazz performance from the University of Denver, and also trained at the Henry Mancini Institute in Los Angeles, where he performed with artists including Diana Krall and Herbie Hancock. In addition to music, Robin holds a Master’s degree in counseling and is a Licensed Professional Counselor, and runs a private practice in Centennial that specializes in treating depression, anxiety, and relationship issues. His favorite song from the 80s is “Boys of Summer” because of the great lyrics and superb bass work by Timothy Egan. In his free time, Robin enjoys golf, personal fitness, and mindfulness practice -- all of which inform and influence his music and teaching.

Mike Camara

Sound Engineer

Mike first saw The Beatles on the Ed Sullivan show in 1964 and knew he wanted to be a musician. After learning to play several brass instruments, he purchased his first bass guitar in Frankfurt, Germany, in 1968 and performed with several local German bands before moving to Denver in 1970. Once in Denver, Mike brought his talents to numerous original and cover projects throughout the 70's and 80's. In 1990, Mike was invited by a coworker to attend a concert that featured several members of the present-day 6MDB. A friendship with the band was quickly established and, in 2007, Mike became 6MDB's full-time sound and lighting engineer.  Mike takes pride in delivering the best sound quality possible, whether it's an intimate venue or a full-blown outdoor concert.  Mike is responsible for developing 6MDB's live sound, light show, guitar tones, and just about every other technical aspect of the production. He works directly with the client to ensure the band's volume level is perfect for their event. When not working with 6MDB, Mike enjoys spending time with his family and working around his house.
